Friderik Pregl (also Fritz Pregl) was a Slovenian-Austrian doctor and chemist and the first and only Slovenian Nobel laureate (* 1869, Ljubljana; † 1930, Graz).
As a researcher and lecturer at the universities of Graz and Innsbruck, he developed an extremely precise method for quantitative organic microanalysis. For this achievement, which enabled the rapid progress of organic chemistry in the 20th century, he received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1923.
